TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF USE OF THE DPE WEBSITE​

 

Before browsing further into the website of the Department of Public Enterprises: South Africa, users are required first to agree to the terms and conditions of use with regard to copyright; intellectual property rights; disclaimer; security; and privacy.

  1. Usage and copyright
    1. Users are allowed to copy or download content for non-commercial purposes. However, if users wish to use content from the website for commercial purposes, they should first get permission from the Department.
    2. Other websites are prohibited from framing any page on the Department’s website without permission.
  2. Intellectual property rights
    1. All content, data and trademarks, including software, technology, databases, graphics, icons, hyperlinks, private information, designs, programmes, publications, products, processes, or ideas described in the Department’s website are the subject of other rights, including other intellectual property rights, which are the property of or licensed to the Department or a legal entity, and as such are protected from infringement by South African legislation and international treaties and conventions.
    2. Subject to the specific rights afforded to the user in the terms and conditions, all other rights to all intellectual property on the website are expressly reserved.
  3. Disclaimer
    1. The Department protects itself from any liability of all information on the website.
    2. The information on the website is not necessarily exhaustive in its treatment of the subject matter.
    3. The use of the information on the website is at the user’s own risk and the Department will not be liable for any damages, loss or liability arising from the use or inability to use information on the website.
    4. The Department cannot guarantee the accuracy of information that is maintained by third parties.
    5. The inclusion of links to other websites does not imply the Department’s endorsement of such sites.
    6. The Department is not responsible for the use, or inability to use or access any linked websites or any links contained in a linked website.
  4. Privacy
    1. Users are allowed to access the Departmental websites without providing any personal information.
    2. The Department may track information to identify categories of users, by items such as IP addresses, domains, browser types and pages visited and that the web manager uses this information to ensure that the website serves as a useful and effective information resource. However, personal information such as the user’s name or e-mail address will not be collected.
    3. If the website registers users for a specific purpose (e.g. to request future information, register online for an event, etc.) the user is assured that personal information will only be used for limited purposes, e.g. to create a personal profile to customise its response to further requests, to improve the website or to respond to the user.
    4. The Department may provide users’ information to service providers that handle information on behalf of the Department. However, users’ information will not be shared with third parties for secondary or unrelated purposes.
  5. Security
      1. The Department has in place reasonable commercial standards of security to protect information provided by users from loss, misuse, alteration or destruction and all reasonable steps are taken to secure user’s information.
